This art was originally made for the #GBJAM which is the GameBoy JAM where you can only use for colors, and this was just the palette I chose to work with

Why the bleached colors?  Is it a Greyscale game?

It looks more like it's shaking something off the sword rather than swinging it to deal damage. "Put your back into it," as they say :] A slight lean forward, combined with an actual step forward rather than sliding the foot forward, would make the attack seem more attack-like. The foot that doesn't move, because the ankle area doesn't move, also seems to break when the body moves forward. Let that ankle bend some.

Since the case here is so tiny, the "lean forward" might need to be as small as just moving the head forward 1-2px.
