It's cute, but also very clear in its detail. Nice.
i realised that after i changed it. I didn't expect you to just use what i uploaded anyway, so it shouldnt matter much. it looks the same when done properly, anyway.
@Connor - I understand what you mean but it looks like in your edit you moved him in single pixel increments. I uploaded him at 200% so any single pixel edits you make are simply impossible to do.
I hope you don't mind, but someting was bugging me with this and i think i found what. Made a slight change.

I think moving up and down makes him look more like he's running. kinda looks like a power walk atm.
Update:
1. Attempted to unify the palette, changing the hue and lowering the color count. (12 to 10)
2. Added a highlight to the knee. (new highlight color)
3. Redrew some of the feet so that they would be at 45 angles instead of always a 90 degree angle.
4. Redrew a couple of the arm frames making them more readable.
5. Made the hair a tiny bit more bouncy looking. (Any more bouncy than this makes it look terrible because of the small amount of pixels)
thanks again to @Manupix
The point is to unify the palette, as explained here.
Just to be clear, I was not suggesting to add frames ;)
I am not against adding more frames if it will help with the animation but i dont think it is necessary to fix any of the things you mentioned, i will play with the hair and see what is possible. upping the frames to 8 could improve the smoothness of the animation some, but i dont want to go overboard with animation complexity.
i origionally had the 2 middle frames more distinct from eachother and it made the animation less smooth, not because its a bad idea for them to be distinct but because of my inexperience.
Really good point on the hands, that does make it look more confusing less readable because of it. I think the arm movements may need a complete rework, i truggles with them the most on this animation.
@ADrawingMan: I thought of this when i was making the sprite origionaly and gave up, the best I could do was adding in the one extra pixel when his head turns to give it some bounce.
i will give it another go tonight and see if i can improve on it. I agree that his hair is a too static during the animation.
@ADrawingMan: not sure this is possible in so few pixels/frames; it wouldn't greatly improve readability anyway.
Pretty nice anim.
Nitpicks: the legs could probably appear more distinct if the middle position wasn't the same for both. The hands can look like shifting from one arm to the other when his right moves down from its highest point, because the left hand gets too close to that position in the previous frame(s).
Nice colors, a little hue shifting might improve it as right now there are distinct purples, browns and bluish ramps of apparently constant hue.
One or two pixels of highlight on the knees when they are up might be nice, but would probably require a new color.
You should make the topknot move up and down to give it a littly bouncyness. Really loving your sprites so far!
Thank you!
