"This strange device was found in one of the underground ruins that run through the planet. Although there were signs of tall buildings dotting the landscape, the large tunnels seemed to be the chief form of movement around the landscape, which may indicate that the environment was possibly damgerous to the inhabitants of the planet."

"I digress though. The Chromatic Trinket, as I have come to call it, is a small device that fits within one of my pockets. Although thin, it is incredibly strong, and contains sophisticated electronics. It has been preserved reasonably well, although it does suffer from malfunctions sometimes. It has the ability to light up in 3 different combinations, but it doesn't seem to have any other function. Further research is required to discern the true function of the Trinket."

Day 28, Explorer Commander Esther Creed's Log

"Through the Transgraphers notes, we were able to read some of their archived information in their databanks. It has revealed that the history of Pyxl was steeped in war, with 3 clans trying to fight for absolute supremacy."

"This was was the cause of their downfall, with each clans leader ordering what was known as a "Prism Strike" on the other 2. The force of the combined attacks destroyed the atmosphere of the planet, along with a large percentage of the planets inhabitants. With no way to produce food, they slowly died out underground."

"The trinket seems to be an identification badge for each of the three clans, but it has the ability to switch between all three clans colours at will. I'm going to dig through the records of the war to see if I can find the reason for this."

Day 41, Explorer Commander Esther Creed's Log

"I now have an answer to my question! The Chromatic Trinket was used by a 4th group, known as "Blanks". The Blanks were political saboteurs, causing infighting between the other clans. They were actually quite good allies previously, but these Blanks sought something else, something more substantial than a three-way truce."

"We found out that the Blanks clothing could shift colour in accordance to the Chromatic Trinket, allowing them access to all areas of all cities. Previously, checkpoints prevented travel through the tunnels due to the colour of the inhabitants clothing. This means that the Chromatic Trinket was not only a Blank identifier, but also allowed them to blend with common folk. This has been an invaluable resource in the history of the Pyxlites, and how they were destroyed."

"There is still a lot to search through, so I will return to base and report my findings to my superiors, and await my next mission"
