You're fine, this embraces the spirit of the challenge. I think what you did was clever. You used the required color in an interesting way I have no idea why this would be peevish in any way.
I don't think you should remove anything. Have you seen the other participations for this challenge? Every single participation except yours uses the challenge color (and close colors) as something dominant in their creations. I don't know, for me I would instincitely think to do the same.
I think the idea behind the restriction is to work with it as opposed to trying to find ways to go around it.
Just my opinion though.
I had no idea it goes against the spirit of restriction. I mean, it still uses the required color, but it doesn't say anywhere that I should use more than what I used here; I follow all rules to the word, so I guess I accidentally found a loophole in the rules. I tried using the required color more, for example as a shading color, but it kinda clashed with the orange and I didn't like the way it looked... so it ended up being used only around the eyes.
Should I remove this or just leave it as is?
Well, personally I don't think it's stupid, I mean, the color restrictions. There's always a way to bend the rules to the very limits. Personally I won't be voting for this not because it doesn't look good but because it goes against the spirit of the restrictions.
This being said, I like your advice about shading, thanks!
Perfect example of why required colors is kinda dumb lol
Btw, when you shade next time, fill in the whole thing with the darkest color, then blot out the highlights slowly getting lighter.
ahahaha this character is of Eversion a indie game.
Nice!!
