Thanks for taking the time to review my piece Manupix!
I actually added the car as an afterthought, because I wanted to use a light source close to the ground, which I had never attempted before. It does look a bit out of place in the story, though, and I should definitely re-work the perspective now that you point it out.
I'm not entirely satisfied with the lighting, either; it looks a bit off on the cat for one thing, but now that I look at the picture again the lighting on the pavement looks disconnected from that on the wall.
I'll use dithering more sparingly in my next piece -- it's pretty tricky to find just the right amount!
Anyway, a lot of room for improvement but that's what I'm here for! Merci ! :)
I do think you've gone a bit overboard with the dithering (a bit!), the result is somewhat noisy. There is good attention to the pixel-level texturing, not enough to the overall effect: the composition would benefit from flat eye-resting places, such as burnt out highlights from the car lights on the road. It's a great piece nevertheless =)
Nitpicks: the car perspective is wrong; the cat's tail interferes with the knife, the arm holding the carrot isn't obvious.
I'm not sure if a car was the right choice as a light source since it doesn't seem to be part of the story; maybe a street light would have worked better, as well as helping with the direction of the source (which is an unresolved issue on the cat).
Thanks for the encouraging feedback everyone! I was worried I might have gone a bit overboard with the dithering, but I'm glad it can be read as texture on the ground.
And bunnies like to devour their carrots alive ;)
That lighting is amazing, as is the texture on the road/pavement!
Holy smokes that's awesome! Don't know what else to say. I like everything about this.
I'm loving this. Although I didn't know rabbits were so concerned about saving the lives of carrots. If anything, they seem rather genocidal when it comes to carrots. I guess this is a sort of Legolas & Gimli story of unlikely friendships.
hahaha nice concept. XD
