Cheers cat!
It's great to hear that from a pixel face expert like you. :)
Cheers! Cool you like it.
I know what you mean, it is more of a master copy than anything else.
It would have been certainly a more artistic piece of work if I had tried to get that Leyendecker feel going with a sprite or, like you said, change of pose/angle/expression etc..
I'll try to use everything I've learned here on a new 100% Mandrill pixel. :)
I guess I keep that one for myself.
Thanks for the hint anyway. ;)
An exellent job. Very impressive pixel work and great in greyscale.
It nitpicking terms and even legally this still falls within the range of plagiarism because you used a ref of work by another artist and made your version of the same. Yes, the differences are vast and this is just meant for your info and takes away nothing from the piece.
The best way to handle refs in order to not plagiarize is to make a 100% original that is re'd only for what it is that inspired you. Most easily changing the pose/angle/expression, for example.
anyhoo...just info and wisdom :)
The Forums are a great place to post things you're not entirely finished or proud of -- the colore dversion sounds fun to see!
I try to lay the focus on that lately. Glad you noticed it. :D
Cheers for the feedback, your words are always appreciated!
Excellent! I really like how you manage to incorporate 45 degree lines in your art, to make the lines cleaner. I only noticed it because his collar stood out a bit, and then I noticed them all over the place. Very nice.
Good stuff man.
