For sure! Thanks! Would be the first time anyone has used a palette of mine, I think.
@FlyGuy: Thanks a lot! I'm glad I was able to make it a little bit epic, instead of feeling like a NES platform game. And yes, it's a retelling of the war in heaven, Lucifer, etc.
Man this is really cool to look at. It's so simple but feels so epic.. This looks like a really scary tale.. I assume it's some version of the falling angel in the old testiment?
@jal & Mandrill: Thanks a lot!
@Mrmo Tarius: Thanks! And yes, it certainly feels like having 4 colours is 10 times more than 3 colours. I actually started out with 3 colours, then afforded myself a fourth. I figured it would be in keeping with the spirit of the motif to have a balance between two warm colours and two cold colours
@KitKatFresse: Well, the yes and no. I'm not religious, but after reading taoism and also hearing scientific theories of a universe caught in an infinite cycles of "big bang" and "big crunch", repeatedly being created, destroyed and recreated, it made me think about how to apply that model to the judaic / christian / muslim story of creation.
I won't get into detail, but the idea is that the messiah has sacrificed himself an infinite amount of times and will return an infinite amount of times. In this retelling of creation and the end of days, it would be impossible for a state of stagnation where everyone lives in Paradise for all of eternity. To quote Lao Tzu:
"Thus Something and Nothing produce each other;
The difficult and the easy complement each other;
The long and the short offset each other;
The high and the low incline towards each other; (...)
Before and after follow each other."
Now, what's interesting to me, is the idea of characters who are aware of this cycle, yet still choose to uphold it. I am always fascinated by characters, either good or evil, who march resolutely to their doom, knowing full well what awaits them.
is this showing the end of the age and the second coming of christ?
Had to gaze at it for 5 minutes to absorb the all the awesomeness. I still have the feeling that I've missed half of the details anyway. Glad you posted the panorama version. ;)
Excellent colour choice and very simple yet effective designs.
Great stuff. :)
I like this very much! Also 4 colours seems like such a luxury compared to only 3 I've been working with these days :)
I don't know. Use your level 9 skills and solve this mystery for me. Use your award-winning Detective Powerz.
Wait what?! SINCE WHEN?!
We've had 5mb pieces in the gallery before.
Cheers, guys!
@greenraven: Apparently, there's a 1 mb limit in the PJ gallery. And the 1000 frame version is 3,3 mb.
So why didn't you upload the 1000 frame version instead?
;D, i love your style, is awesome...
And with 4 colors you make a genius work xD
oh gosh this is so amazing!!! It could be in a game boy game
Oh wow, that's incredibly flattering! :'D Thank you, I'm really glad you liked my palette! I think you pulled the colours off much better than I did though.
Thanks, vrine! To be honest, I think seeing your Fallout portrait may have influenced my colour choice for this piece
Naaah, I'm very sure not the first time. Maybe the first one who asked
