It looks messy because:
1. The outline of the letters isn't cleaned up
2. The shape of the letters isn't cleaned up
3. The face is incredibly hard to read (I thought it was a water blob with a mouth)
4. There are too many different sizes of lines
Define what is messy in the picture please, also he is supposed to look happy I am just a sick person lol.
This looks rather messy, it could use a fair bit of refining. The character also looks a bit happy, which I doubt they would after losing part of their face.
1. For the outline I see what you mean and will find time to fix it.
2. When you say shape I assume you mean the way the font is, and if that is the case that was sort of intentional.
3. I don't know what to say about the water blob because I don't see it.
4. I really wanted to try something new with the lines, I didn't want it to be incredibly smooth looking.
