But suddenly the darkness inside the dimensional gate was swept aside by a bright flash of orange light! And a small circular energy gate appeared in the middle of the chamber, quickly growing larger...
And as the energy gate got bigger, the walls of the chamber changed too...no longer did I see dusty walls, but stars and outer space, a view to a orange colored cosmos opened up in front of me. And I was momentarily dazzled by the sight, and for a few seconds I just standed there, watching the dancing lights...
But then I returned to my senses, and not a moment too soon; a shadowy figure was forming inside the orange teleportation sphere! It was clear that someone was going to materialize there...and for a few more critical seconds I just standed there, looking at the sphere, to see the figure more clearly...And then suddenly it was fully there! To my horror, a long hooded figure stepped out of the teleportation sphere: it was a Zappaturian, one of the Unholy servants of Murgobaloth, the dread of all wannabe paladins and clerics! And the lich saw me, how could it not, and without any hesitation it drew it's Crimson Blade, and continued walking towards me!
And I turned away and ran around the corner of the teleportation chamber, and then quickly stopped after just a few steps, hoping to ambush the lich right there...And for a moment I doubted if that was a good idea at all, maybe I should just keep running! But it was too late to change my mind, the Zappaturian was already at the door of the chamber, I could see it's black shadow on the floor front of me...

The hooded "Zappaturian" character shown here was inspired by the Nazguls in the Lord of The Rings, and by the dark Jedis of Star Wars, and by the "Lich" enemies found in Nethack. It represents the usual "super enemy" found in many RPGs; encountering one is an event that separates real Knights from "Plastic Paladins". :)
