A fire elemental is always a dangerous foe...many experienced adventurers have perished while fighting one, not fully understanding the nature of these fiery beigns...

But I tell you, a Firesoul is even more dangerous, it's like facing the Sun itself...These beigns are native inhabitants of the Elemental Plane of Fire, and are normally encountered only there...It is extremely rare that one would enter the normal world...

But some cases are known; the most powerful of the black mages can summon them, and through complex and dangerous rituals they sometimes manage to bind these creatures to do their bidding...if the binding operation is successful, the black magician then usually commands the summoned creature to attack someone, because a Firesoul's explosive firepower can instantly destroy anyone that stands near them. Magic is the only defence against their fire, and even that often fails...

And so, when I suddenly encountered one of them on the road between Corinth and Longwood, I was almost totally caught off-guard...The day was turning into an evening, and I had just stopped there after riding that whole day...and I started looking for a comfortable spot where to build my camp, when suddenly a bright light on the horizon captured my attention...

And the light grew bigger and bigger, and I wondered what it was...And because of my tiredness I didn't react until I saw the flames around it, and even at this point I wasn't sure what it was, I just thought "fireball" and instinctively started casting a Globe of Protection...

And my spell was ready at the last moment, that hastily casted magic Globe saved my life...The Firesoul exploded with the power of a hundred fireballs, flames and lava rays rushed forward from the infernal beign, burning everything they touched. My poor horse was without any protection, and it was burned to ashes within seconds; so great was the power of the flames.

And I stood there inside the Globe, now fully realizing the grave situation I was in...I felt like a statue in a sea of fire, unable to move, there was fire, fire everywhere...and in the center of the flames I saw my enemy: the Fiery Eye, a Firesoul, a living sun out of this world...

This is an experimental picture, decided to test 4 colors, fire effects, and explosions...

The little story here is my own creation, although the "Globe of Protection" spell and the "Elemental Plane Of Fire" are directly inspired by Forgotten Realms. :)

@graindolium

Ok good. Well then we would just need to change the colors to 12bits. :)

Should I try to change the colors myself or can someone else your demogroup do it?

But anyways you have my permission to freely use this image in your TO8 project. :)

modes :
- 160x200 , 16 colors
- 320x200 , 4 colors  <= your graph :)
- 320x200 , palette 16 colors  with 8*1 in 2 colors
- 640x200 , 2 colors

your graph is already adapted, only the colors are fixed on 12bits !

@graindolium

Ok, I have now google translated and read more about the TO8 project, sounds interesting. :)
So you're looking for pixel art that could be easily transformed into the Thomson TO8 graphics format, that has a MSX-style "2 colors on a 8*1 row" limitation? :D

Yes, this picture might be quite compatible with those rules; the only problematic areas would be the horse and the edges of the wizards shield; in those places there are often 3 colors in the same 8*1 cell...But if the horse was removed and the shield + the wizard were redesigned accordingly, then I think this image could be quite Thomson-compatible...

It's an interesting idea, in the past I have programmed games for the MSX-1 computer which has exactly this same graphics limitation, so I'm familiar with this 8*1 thing. And it might be interesting to see how this picture would look if converted to that format...so maybe I'll actually make such a version of it in the future, we'll see. :D

@graindolium

No, I have never heard of that "TO8 project" before. :)

But I checked that link and tried to google translate some of the posts there, and noticed 4 colors + 320*200 being mentioned in one post. So is it some kind of a demo project looking for 4 color pictures? :)
