Thanks a lot dudes!!!
@NemukaH Hi!, I don’t know what to say; HLD's Kickstarter came out in September last year and we started our devlog on TIG forums in August. So for sure both teams were working without knowing that the other existed :)
I don’t know if we use the same references/ inspirations (would be great to ask them ^ ^) but for me, the main and strong art influence come from Sword & Sworcery.
And yeah, it was kind of minimal pixel art. but I still see a lot of different and cool styles within this ““category””, even if they share the pixel scale.
Games as HLD, Crawl, Super Time Force, Broforce, Zombie Night Terror (and so many others) have a really clear and recognizable style. Soooo, I don’t know, I just hope that this trend will last for a while, because I love it :)
Hey, Skydsgaard. I've been looking for this style since HLD came out. Is this a type of minimal pixel art, or is it it's own stand alone style?
Yeah this game is going to be cool as hell. I love the distorted perimeter thing goin on in the video preview.
Yeah I've checked the rest and hld has nothing on irkalla! I want this game now! amazing
This stuff is heeps inspiring! Show us more of these scenes D: I need it
Really loving the different pixel sizes. Makes it look really cool.
Outstanding piece, I'm psyched to find out it's for a game! The mockups and animations on the devblog are quite excellent, I'm really looking forward to further development. Just by including little scenes like this, the party campfire but from the foes' perspective (foes who toast marshmallows even), you guys are cracking the mold of the standard game narrative. Keep up the great work!
Wow I really love your style, minimal but full of details and vivid !
Well done sir o/
This is so awesome. That is one impressive fire.
The whole project, art, logo, colors, idea is all great and cool.
Please let us know when your project is ready for posting as news so all can enjoy.
Thank to each one of you :)
@ADrawingMan
best compliment ever :D:D:D
@moondrome
yep! we are on it, you can follow the dev log here :)
@Hapiel
No idea dude xD, this is the first pixel fire that I have made, so, I was just lucky ^_^U
About the shadow, yeeeeeah, I totally agree with you, there is something wrong with the timing.
@Ambient
Thanks a lot! That is just the horizont, it's not realistic but I think it looks cool :)
This is from Irkalla :D more to come!
That marshmellow. Awesome just about everything. I do have one concern: the shadow in the back. What is it a shadow of? Or is it just the extent of the fire's light? (in which case what about the edges of the scene?)
I take it this is for Hyper Light Drifter?
Amazing! That fire animation is incredibly good! How do you get it to look so natural yet remain so 'squared'?
I am a little bit dissapointed that the flickering shadows do not respond properly on the brightness of the flame. Ideally it would be dark when the flame is tiny and light up as the fire grows again!
cool! there will be a game out of this scenes you are uploading?
The creatures remind me of something out of a Zelda game. Lovely stuff!
Can't say I normally go for these somewhat abstract styles but I actually really like this.
fcuking beautiful
