I'm gonna go for a useless comment that I think it's awesome myself.
Great work!
However it would be better at x1 zoom instead of x2 ...
What I like about this is the dragon.
Ok, I totally dig the details of the head and the wings. And that increased depth effect you made through the use of color/saturation.
I find the movement of the tail wierd, through. It looks to me like the dragon first moves his tail and then the body.
A dragon that could bark you out of sleep would be the solution of so many problems.
This pic is great! I'm watching it closely and I love the animation in x0.5 and 0.06sec for each frame.
Yes, game art should serve best in games, our viewing pleasure gets second place.
I like the cyan on the spikes and the head. The head is definitely my favorite part of the whole thing!
makes perfectly sense what you say about the wings and the shape.
The sprite is about 256x256. The ingame resolution was 320x240
Means you would have seen it completely differently anyways. Zoom in one step and display just the lower half - the char is in the middle of the screen and will attack the dragon directly.
It's always a pain in the ass with showing off graphical game stuff as "art" without actual seeing it working in an engine with all the surrounding factors.
You could turn a simple "awesome" in "I like about this xxx" - that's a lot more valuable and takes about half a minute longer =)
PJ loves dragons!
But since there is no value in 'this is awesome' comments...:
I am a bit disappointed that the wings don't move seperately from the body! But then again the only proper movement probably would be rotation which would be way too much effort with pixels.
The cast shadow makes the shape of the dragon hard to read, it took a long time until I spotted the right lower leg next to his head. I only saw that one after I removed the shadow myself. It probably looks better on a background darker than my PJ theme.
I saw this on your deviant, so glad you posted this. Great colors you got going on here.
I think all pieces need to be watched first at 1x.
nice work, I'm liked with the color palette.
Just simply incredible
