you could try taking a slice from one of the top layers.. not the very top one, but the second top layer.. and its not so much making it bigger, but maybe making it more towards the front than the side so that we can see it more.. I didnt know it was a cake until I read your describtion 

Thanks for the comments guys! ^_^  Well, let's see.  The reason the colors aren't cakey is because the purpose of the competitions is to make a cake, but make it as un-cake-like as possible.  XD  Hence the browns and greens and whatnots.  I'll consider putting it on a tray though.  Also, I think that if I took a bigger slice, the rest of the cake would fall over.  Haha.

It's quite nicely done, and the water needent matter if it was made on a cake with icing sugar, i aint seen any cakes made with perfectly formed [still] flowing water before! I was confused of what the cut in the cake was at first, perhaps it should be made larger (i know i would take a bigger slice than that anyhow) That should make it look more like a cake on first glance, jalonso's idea of the tray sounds good aswel, unless you want it less obvious.

Its hard to tell its a cake. perhaps a doily or tray would help. the colors are not cakey enough. original idea though. ;)
