Thank you all!
@Ticxta, @Dr D: Yeah, I'm aware of the perspective issues. Simply, I made this and then left it unrefined not having time to enter the jam. I did want to try and adjust that side door tile, but dropped the project before doing that.
Sprites were intentionally monochrome, since the gameplay idea was to have an element-based fight system, and colors had to represent the corresponding element. Not very original, I admit
The thing is the bottom walls can be seen too. There is no correct perspective for the door if it's going to be used over and over again as the same tile. This is apparent if you move the door down one more tile and compare it to that corner instead of the upper corner.
Personally I'd make the door perfectly horizontal than with an angle, but then comes the problem of the sprites not matching the walls or door at all in their perspective. It's slightly less of a problem if the sprites are not shown physically entering the door at all, perhaps like a fadeout effect if they press in the direction while in front of it.
Anyways, liking the art a lot. That is just a perspective rant that really plagues all games with this perspective in general, even those Zelda games. It's not really that big of a deal though.
Were all of the sprites intended to be monochrome on purpose? (With the exception of the bottom left one) I feel like they look like clay sculptures, a bit.
Looks really nice at 2x, I'm a particular fan of those walls, well done
However, is the door on the side meant to be drastically reduced in height? otherwise I think it would've come out better if it were running more upwards. See image. i.imgur.com/6mP4ymI.png
The wall tiles are really well done here. I love the perspective. It doesn't look off or forced. Great colors as well!
Would love to see more like this.
