Thanks for the feedback. I made this one over 5 years ago, and noticed most of the things you mentioned when I uploaded it, but it's still good to hear that you noticed those things. I'm not a fan of the smug face I'm making either, so I plan on making a new avatar before too long.

I would recommend staying away from colors as striking as monitor cyan for the background of something like this, since it overpowers the foreground.  Also, the hair doesn't really need as many colors as it has -- it's so dark compared to everything else that having so many different shades of near-identical color is sort of lost on the eye!
