Kenseiden was a game released on the Sega Master System, by Sega, back in 88'. An excellent one, I must say! I decided to redraw the graphics of a screenshot with new colors and aditional details. I tried to do as few copy/pastes as possible in order to keep a greater variety of tiles. I couldn't resist the temptation and used some transparency effects on the grass and moon shadings over the bamboo!

Wonderful work with the bamboo.

I tried hard to make a variety of clouds to fit in.... But all of them looked more like mountains than clouds to me. Finally I gave up and decided to pick up those. They did the job pretty well...

In my version, the game loses its darker atmosphere. The colors are much brighter. I did this just to make something different, though the game "feel" in Kenseiden is one of the bests ever achieved on a video game. It REALLY has a "medieval-Japan- Haunted-by-demons" feeling to it. Few games have achieved that. And we're talking about an 8 bit game! 5 stars to Sega and Kenseiden on that one!!!

This is excellent. You got me all nostalgic haha. Very nice background you made there. Those clouds and the moon fits in the game ambiance perfectly.
