Thank a bunch for the spot-on crit! I've adjusted the background a bit. Hopefully it looks better now.
It looks great, and I see what you are trying to do with the black background, but the mask doesn't blend all that well with it. The darkest blue seems a bit too bright and it makes it looks more like a floating head instead of fading into the darkness. I would try and tone it down a bit, or possibly make it into a bust with the neck/chest/shoulder area being a single color that fades out with dithering.
I intend it to be a negative space to sort of add to the horrific intensity of the mask since in the game it's worn by the protagonist Corvo, who's pretty much a murdering ghost.
