Love that the preview makes it look like a never ending army of these things.
First I used a 3-frame tread but it didn't work out (besides I decided to animate it after I pixelled it). But I guess that the weelthingies inside suggest the direction in the mainpiece (at least at x2+ it works for me) and that if it would be in a game the direction would be pretty clear (like in the preview).
But yes, I agree. 3-frames or more for treads are better since they convey the movement clearly without additional context.
I gotta say, imagining the robot to drive backwards at full speed has it's own flavor. Maybe he's fooling us and in truth is hovering just slightly above ground? Those 200X robots aren't very trustworthy!
The problem with 2-frame treads is you can't decide which way they go, or even if they just alternate.
