Really digging this one! It has your typical unique low res style, I still remember from when I was young and watched your pixels at gamemaker forums :D
I'm also a fan of paul verhoeven, especially his starship troopers film (the are no sequels!) (I've read the book too!), I wounder if you are ever planing to do that one?
Also about the palette and limitations, you got any link on how they work? This really woke my interest !
Thanks. No to Starship Troopers. I love the film but I've no desire to make a game or sprite of it. It would be somewhat difficult to do on 8-bits as the majority enemies are giant bugs that would be large sprites with at quite a bit of animation. Make them smaller and the troopers would end up being only a few pixels high like little Lemmings... which I guess could be fun too but not really my thing.
Regarding CPC limits. It's much more easy going than Spec/C64/NES as despite it's 30 year old age it doesn't have any funny attribute issues or colours per sprite limits. You can use all 16 on screen colours in a sprite for example. For 16 colour mode you are stuck with these wide pixels but then that's part of the fun for me. The palette is really easy to work out too. It's all 27 combinations of the numbers 0, 127 and 255 on modern colour pickers. Cpcwiki.eu is the best place for more info about the system in general and has a small but active community of people.
