No worries! ;)
Since everything on him is meant to be reflective all the forms don't really need to be seperated into the usual highilght, mid, shadow pattern.
The parts that are brown and dark brown have to reflect the sky as well. Hard cuts like the ones on the chin and brow/eyelid need to be treated as individual forms too. (blue/white/dark brown/ brown/ light brown).
Check out this painting by Donato Giancola.
Thanks, I'm going to take a closer look at your example. I've been told that rendering a reflection that looks like a desert horizon helps, but I wasn't quite sure how to manage that. Your example, however quickly done, will help a great deal.
Could you tell me more specifically what it was that I got wrong in the chin, brown, and eyelid?
You did pretty good actually. It's like jal said.
The most important things are contrast and reflections. Try to think about what the object you are pixeling is sorrounded by. A good standard is the desert theme. A simple blue sky with a white sun as highlights and earth tones for your mids and shadows.
I just changed the colours and added white. Far from being perfect though. ;)
Some of the planes and clusters are a bit misplaced. The chin for example or parts of his brow and eyelid.
Chrome needs high contrast to read as such.
I can't find now so I'll ask in the Chatterbox and see if anyone remembers the link. Check there.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
