@avo & Pixelist: Thanks!
@-DE-: I hear ya. I abandoned the hobby a long time ago, as GW seemed determined to crash the whole universe into a ditch. I guess they realized there was more money in dumbing things down, instead of appealing to a mature audience. Every time they expanded on the fluff / lore, it just got worse.
A few days ago, I just checked out their website to have a look at the new stuff they'd released over the past year. I threw up in my mouth a little. It's basically World of Warcraft now.
I would've been excited about this a few years ago, but now I despise everything GW. Regardless, a very nice piece!
Really enjoy looking at the shading on the armor. Has the nice "shiny' effect that a piece of metal should have.
Good job. :)
Whoa, thanks a lot for bringing that to my attention. It definitely doesn't belong on that list, but I guess people are just happy to see more 40k pixel art
Cheers!
Wow, your piece was featured in this thing that was made by PixelProspector http://imgur.com/a/aiTOw?
Again, great job
Very satisfying to see that last frame of polish in the WIP! Well done again!
@king_bobston: Thanks! That's a nice little feather in my cap :)
Thanks a lot, everyone! Very encouraging indeed :)
@TrojanMonkey: If you're going to follow someone's example, pick someone with more talent than myself. Look at the artists who are actually spending time studying anatomy, such as Cyangmou. I am only a novice, and my lack of anatomical understanding meant that I had to make quite a few changes underway.
Yet again someone is breaking down a figure into a smudge of paint instead of doing so with a skeleton.
I really should try that myself.
I loved to see this on the making.
It seem awesome finished. :D
I had Space Hulk and even the more 'mainstream' Hero Quest and Space Crusade. The board games and the 8-bit computer games. :P
Hehe, cheers for the compliment!
I'm more than happy to see more 40k stuff, especially as brilliantly pixelled as this.
good work!,
probably no one remembers "space hulk" game from ancient times but it was my first impression
there are some inconsequences too, but looks nice
"I'll just do a tiny 250 x 300 pixel piece next time. Surely, that can't take very long!"
hmm - maybe 320x200 will be easier :)
@Mandrill: Thanks, mate! Much appreciated. I have to say, I was inspired by all your lovely 40k stuff, and decided PJ needs more of it! I'm just trying to do my bit :)
Thanks guys! :)
@Marina: 3D software is easy to find and 3D printers are dirt cheap pretty soon. Shouldn't be too hard! :)
Kharn! That's the best pixel renditon of him I've ever seen.
Ungodly good!
Sweet! I do agree a bit with nvision, but it's not that big of a deal. Great pixelling all around!
I'm so silly lol
Anyway, I was serious when I said that each time I see miniatures, make me want to come back to that hobby. I enjoyed painting miniatures 12 years ago, and I also would like to do my own miniatures of my games and paint them. Who knows, maybe sooner or later I will be able to do it :)
Again, you did a great job in this pixel art piece
Haha! Well, the teenage years can be very hard, emotionally, mentally and socially. A lot of kids have self esteem issues, maybe problems at home. And then on top of that, they have to deal with Ultramarine bullies at school? It breaks my heart!
I'm glad I was able to provide you with some catharsis :)
Forgot to say I like that he's holding an Ultramarines helmet ( I presume it's those guys based on the colour) cos there was a kid in my class at the time I had those Khorne figures who was obsessed with Ultramarines and constantly went about how they could supposedly wipe out all the Chaos and Tyranids and all the other factions of Space Marines with ease.. and apparently even Superman and the Hulk. Man, he was an obnoxious little turd. So yay for having that helmet (and assuming a decapitated head inside it judging from the blood drips). :D
Sorry, Marina, I was just kidding! I took a chance writing that joke without a smiley, because I figured it was such a horrendous thing to ask, you would realize I was joking. :)
It speaks volumes of your kindness that you didn't just tell me to f*** off. I'm from Norway, but next time I'm Spain, I will buy you a glass of Norwegian apple wine. (I heard you guys make wine from grapes. That's just ridiculous)
(Joking again)
I would like to, but has been 11 years that I don't paint any figures, and I have no material to do it nowdays. Sometimes when I see Kickstarter projects with miniatures, make me want to buy stuff and paint them, but I never have time neither. This is pity, because when we where a teenagers we used to have time to do everything... :(
By the way, are you from spain? Maybe after finishing our project, in January I will try to buy material.
@Carnivac: Yeah, I stayed in the hobby way longer than I should have, just because I loved painting the miniatures and didn't have any other artistic outlet. Would have been cheaper if I'd started with pixel art. Or... anything else.
@nvision: Cheers! I don't know why, but I always imagined Khârn as more of a quiet, butchering psychopath than just a mindless berserker savage. :)
@Mrmo: That's hilarious! And yeah, I see what you mean about the hand, now. :/
@Marina: That's cool! Tell me if this is a bit much, but.... will you paint my miniatures too? I have a bunch of them in the attic that aren't painted. I hope I'm not asking too much. If you can't, that's totally fine. I mean, I thought we were friends, but whatever...
It's a relatively sedate pose for Kharn, but good stuff! I especially like how the gold, steel, and ceramite all feel like different materials.
You finished it! Neat. Much progress over the original version.
I was never big on all the Games Workshop stuff but I did buy and try painting up the whole first set of the Khorne World Eaters when they came out in the 90's just cos I thought they looked pretty damn cool. And so does this.
This is great. I suddenly feel urge to play a RTS game. Good work!
Other than the axe angle seeming just a bit weird in relation to the hand, I like this very very much :D
God, my brother and my cousin used to ask me to paint little Warhammer figures, this make me remember that times haha
Very nice sprite, I like it a lot in all meanings
In the name of the Dark Gods!
"Skulls for the Skull Throne!!!" (c)
Cheers, clefairykid :)
