Agh..I'm salivating! This piece is perfection. Love the colours and illustrative qualities of the portraits.
I did not aim for that but now that you have mentioned it.
Hrhr, cheers!
Looks like sort of thing I might find in an early 90's Amiga game. Which means I like it. :)
that tool used to change the colors of all the sprites at once?
Thanks!
Sure, I do all my digital art in Photoshop; version CS5 to be exact.
COOL!, Mandril could you tell me what program you used to change the color of my sprites?
Thank you! Always great to hear that from other 40k fans. ;)
@ FrostPumpkin
Haha, awesome. Thank you very much for that!
Always looking up to your work :)
@ CELS
Cheers, chap! Glad you like it.
I totally agree with you. The portraits are far more intersting than the other icons.
I didn't do more of them though because I felt like they would not transport the feel of a MMO that well. Furthermore it is quite hard to make a readable icon in that size (50px x 50px).
What I originally planned was to pixel 3 portraits and 3 characters using race specific weapons or items. It didn't took long before I realized that is was almost impossible to put enough information into the 46x46 square to make everything distinguishable enough.
The most economical (and laziest) way for me was to do just symbols and items. :P
Ouh damn, this is awesome ! Great use of wolors and you made Slaanesh. This has my vote :)
@ Meapers
Cheers.
There is a F2P MMO in development at the moment but it doesn't look that appealing to be honest... :(
Thank you very much, felch.
Normally I'd agree with you on the purple part but for a Slaanesh thing it's not purple enough.
Very cool. I love how you make nice use of colours in your metal. And boy, you need to keep making icon-sized portraits! :D
My one complaint about this piece is that the Necron symbol, Slaanesh symbol and the stikkbomb are relatively simple and uninteresting compared to the other icons, which are fantastic. If this had just been 6 portraits of the same quality as the first 3, it would have been really magnificent.
PS: Yay for moar Waaagh! :)
I know very little about Warhammer (I've seen the figures in games workshop) so I can't comment on their accuracy but I really like the portraits, but as always lovely colouring. The topmost icon is incredibly vivid, I'd swear it glows in the dark! Against the other icons the purple one is a bit one-note a bit too......purple?
Hehe, thanks a ton! I'm glad you like it. :)
Your stuff is really awesome by the way!
