Looking at the sword movement, I think you're missing 2 key frames here: the sword facing right, and facing bottom-right. But I still think this is a great animation job.
@_Connor- that frame was put in to help the eye track the sword's movement and bridge the gap when there was more vertical height in the leap, but you're right that it doesn't work anymore, so I've removed it. I probably won't do too much more editing other than if I can get some nice trailing effects on the sword, but thanks for the help, definitely stuff I'll keep in mind!
OMG
That gif is amazing!!
I think if had a trail of the dager when it moves, would be cooler, but i loved anyway :)
You can see that there is a frame bwteen when he's landing and when he's spun and swiped (frame 11), but it doesnt look like anything is happening. To me all that frame does is throw off the timing. Maybe have the sword more horizontal? I think a keyFrame at the Apex of the swipe would help as well.
@catf0x- Thanks!
@Motrox- Thank you!
I'll add a little bounce at the end since everyone feels that it would improve things.
@_Connor- Thanks! You make some good points. I don't think I'll delete any frames, but I can mess with the timing some more to give the swipe more impact.
Both you and felchqueen seem to agree that motion blur would help and I'll have to experiment with that. Motion blur and smears are not my area of expertise, but I'm willing to learn.
Thanks for the crit!
I am loving your characters and color choices! Smooth animation--really nice motion in the hair and cloak flop, and you can also see the weight of his sword. Would love to see a little bounce or something after his landing
Looks amazing!
A little movement at the landing like what Connor did would be a good addition.
Awesome character design. I think some kind of blur/trail on the sword would help emphasise the swipe at the end. You don't need frames on the turn around; they slow it down way too much.
I hope you don't mind, i just tried a small edit:
removed 2 frames and adjusted landing position

The turn around is implied, and the whole point of the jump is to create momentum to swipe the sword faster.
Adding a few more hold frames to the air time might help emphasise the motion as well.
Very good! I think the last bit of the swipe could benefit form some added blur lines, but that's just my personal taste. :)
@KamiWasa- Thanks! You're right, I've changed the framerate to be a little bit faster
@CraftyPixeI- Thanks, glad you like his design!
@Mr.Farenheit- Thanks!
@albertov- Thanks! Yeah, I think the sword could dip a little lower on the followthrough from the swing, but I think I'm done touching this for now. I'll definitely keep it in mind, tho.
