Too many pixels, I need one extra week to polish this. Oh well.

Various google refs for bird and frog.

Loving it so far. Don't overpolish it. :)

The saturated colors and multiple textures are really nice. I hope you continue polishing it.

Thanks!

You're right about the lower bg, that was the last thing I did in the wee hours. Hopefully I'll fix it after the vote.

The best entry in my opinion. The dithering is out of this world!

Absolutely gorgeous colours and highly unusual but very interesting forms extremely close to the original. You even managed to point out the different kind of feathers that a bird has, awesome!

The only thing that could be improved I think is the backround. It looks like you stopped working on it near the bottom. Darker colours and very subtle (like in the transition to the sky) dithering would give the whole piece more depth and meat I guess .

Crazily good work nevertheless! Voted

Ha, should have known someone would notice ;)  Thanks!

The palette is a mix and tweak from this old EGA challenge and possibly some colors from Noet's 16 color palette; can't remember exactly what I did! I had planned to make a final palette check and fix but these are not things to be done at 6am.

I'm not sure about the dithering patterns, it's a kind of lazy approach. I'm thinking a more realistic feather pattern might have been better, hoping to find some time to try it.

Nice interpretation! Looks like you tweaked a basic 6-bit palette, however the vivid colors work very well here. Interesting approach with the different patterns/dithers.

I really like the geometry of all the shapes- it looks very crisp

user
felchqueen (Level 6 SWAT) @ 8/4/2014 00:21

Probably the most faithful to the original lines, and a pleasing look. :)

Neela (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 8/4/2014 00:21

Very creative. And I like the colors very much!

caca (Level 2 Kukyu) @ 8/4/2014 00:10

The bird has the body of a fish...?
