@JustinGameDesign, Yes, that's right they're not my work! You said top-down sprites aren't suppose to be facing the screen, I just simply got a few top-down sprite images from Google Images and these sprites are facing the screen, does that mean that they're not top-down sprites?
Not sure what all the links are for. They don't seem to be your work or even resemble your picture.

If these are top-down, and the characters are facing the screen, that means they're staring up instead of forward. Lower the eyes and show more of the top of the head to fix this problem with angle.
@Goodlyay, Yes! That's what I was aiming for! . Now I look back at it, the arms do seem too long. Thanks for the feedback!
The arms are a bit... long, I guess? It feels as if they are standing in a very awkward/angry way, which doesn't seem like a good template unless they're all supposed to be mad all the time.
I guess I should specify that when I said "top-down" I meant something more like a 3/4 overhead perspective, which I assume you were aiming for, but maybe not. A lot of your links are not from an overhead perspective at all, especially the last two, which are 100% from the side/front. If that's what you're aiming for then, then ignore my previous comment and the following.
When a low-res character shown from somewhere above, there's a fine line between looking ahead and looking up at the screen, but maybe this nice base from vampiducki will help:
It's about the same res as your sprite, but doesn't seem to look upward when facing south.
