I have done a last minute update to the building in the back. I think that you are right with the effect of the fog to the objects, unfortunately there is not much time left, so I will leave is as it is. Thanks for the tips and comments!
I don't take it as blurriness, I take it as that luminosity that happens in the borders of objects (don't know the english name if there is any).
But then again the further one should have it as well.
And yes, needless to say, great work.
The update is much cleaner.
ParkerBabyDiaperCompany makes a good point on blurs and depth.
The banding on the tetris block does not work as AA, but it can make sense as blurry it in a foggy environment.
This illusion doesn't work, though, because the palace in the distance (much further away so seen through much more water vapor) is significantly sharper than the tetris block. Their respective sharpnesses should be reverse, imo.

I agree about the AA on the top of the Tetris block.
The reason it failed is because you have both overdone it and you also step/banded which never softens as intended.
Man you are gettnig really good at pixel art. Kick ass job with the fog.
I really like this but I think the AA on the top of the tetris block is a bit overdone. It seems overly blurry compared to the other sides of the shape.
