There's no need to include the 2x, PJ has a zoom feature for all works that preserves sharpness.
I like how well the characters stand out and how clear and readable the environment is. However, because the background is entirely shape/contrast based while the characters are heavily line-art reliant, it feels like they don't belong in the same game. I think having the sprites rely more on colour contrast for separating shapes rather than on lineart (with the light-coloured outline left in for contrast with the background perhaps) would work better.
Nice style, the characters really pop, looks especially good at 1x
