Stellar spriting. That tree's foliage really pops.
Yes! this looks really good! really love those clouds :)
peace!
Thanks failureboy - I'm not too concerned about the background detail detracting from the action. When the camera tracks the player and the forground paralaxes etc. I think the character will pop into focus. But if not, I'll dull down the background.
Thanks itzkreator!
Thanks eishiva - I'll see if I can find the banding, my monitor isn't picking it up. I'll also play with the contracts, thanks for the suggestions. I probably don't have the bandwidth to add another weapon, the staff he carries is taking a ton of time to animate already : )
Thanks Goodlyay!
Thanks dpixel!
I see the banding in the ground too, just below the two lightest browns, and another stretch of banding just above the rocks.
And I also agree that the background overshadows the characters, both in terms of contrast and detail level. There's just so much to look at that it's hard to stay focused on the characters. I think if you reduce the contrast in the background a little, it should help a lot. You don't need to do a lot, since in the game, the characters will be animated, which will help them keep the player's focus.
Aside from those two crits though - unf! That is some masterful use of dithering, the colours look great while still feeling realistic, and the division between the playable areas and the background is very clear. Those flowers look like they'd make fun weapons from their size and shape - any chance of that?
The background - and the big tree in particular - look terrific. They practically overshadow the characters, though. I mean, it's awesome and you're on the right track, but my eyes are drawn more to the background is what I'm saying.
Thanks elend! Hopefully the Kickstarter community will agree with you.
Thanks Pixelart kid!
Thanks D-jinn! I don't have a site up yet. But I'll post here when I do.
Thanks Lux pp! I'm not sure where you're seeing banding. I don't see it on my monior.
Thanks CraftyPixeI!
There seems to be some banding going on on the upper part of the ground layer, but very mature rendering style overall. :)
This is really amazing. Instant faved.
great work, I love how you make those background layers bright, and those tilesets.
I would like see more about metroidvania.
do you have any website to get something like "the latest" about?.
Man, if the game looks like that (and has some interesting game mechanics to boot) you won't have problems getting this funded or finished. Gorgeously detailed and lush colored landscape. Very nice!
This is absolutely beautiful!
