I did this while trying to decide how big to do the sprites for a beatemup game I'm thinking of doing. It would be very cool to do it all this big, but I reckon that it would take me about six years to do all the animation, so I'll probably go back to the 32x64 -pixel figures like the little version in the top left.
The reference for the pose came for a quick sketch I did in my life-drawing class. The model didn't have a big pointy axe-thingy in real life.
