Love the original one it´s a great piece, reminds me of FEZ for some reason. I guess you must have wanted to be in the contest but why not upload that one now. Maybe you could put both of them in a single image so you still show the one that participated.

You can update to your original version after the challenge voting ends. That's cool.
However, if you should get 1st, 2nd or 3rd then maybe reconsider leaving it alone so the ribbon shows what won.
Up to you. Challenges are not contests as much as motivation and encouragement to create.

I'm not a moderator but...
There were cases of unfinished pieces for challenges being finished after the challenge ended. 
So, I'd say yes.

And nice piece, I love windmills.

Oh boy? You may have broken the rule there.
See if you can do something so that whatever color(s) is on the base is not elsewhere even if you have to make it a single solid color?
You can update by uploading revision clicking the 'edit it' under the art and then hitting submit again.
Should you not make deadline and indeed you broke a rule then it will be in your gallery but not the challenge, cool.
