wow looks like a classical oil painting but in pixel art
Your pixelling looks like paint, the colors flow so well!
This piece is absolutely breathtaking. Great colors and composition; I'm curious to see the reference this was inspired by (or if it is mostly from imagination). Only thing I can critique is that there could me a bit more contrast between the pidgeons and the background; I almost didn't notice them. First saw this on /r/pixelart, always glad to see overlap between the two communities! Great job!
Just an incredible piece, I love specialy the colour using for the AA between the sky.
Nice!.
Thank you all so very much! I am just overwhelmed at the amount of praise this has received here, on reddit, dA, Twitter, etc.-- it's crazy. I will try to address specific comments individually, but overall, thank you all for the compliments and the critique, I appreciate it all!
@| | | |, you are definitely right-- some of the areas seem really warm individually. This is okay for me, though, as I was trying to imply a really, really early snow-- one where perhaps winter has not even officially begun.
@ParkerBabyDiaperCompany, I looked at references for pigeons and matched as closely as I could, but at such a small size I am bound to have obscured some things. I will try and fix those in an update!
@ADrawingMan, yeah, I know what you mean-- like I told | | | |, I was going for more of a really early snow feeling, so the river isn't supposed to feel really icy, but it certainly could give that impression for a better overall feeling.
@CELS, haha, yes! I know exactly what you mean. I noticed that while working on it, as I tried making a larger version, and I was like ehh, it works better with the border... maybe an artistic decision overall?
@Delicious, thank you man! We still have a collaboration we need to do!
This is amazing. Faved. Although I do think the big tree on the right border looks a bit odd because most of the snow-covered branches fit so neatly inside the borders of the picture. It's hard to imagine what the rest of the tree looks like, for this reason. I don't know if that makes sense.
I think it's great overall but the poor anatomy of the birds hurts it. They don't look like they belong.
Just WOW! Gorgeous palette and perfect balance of antialiasing and sharpness.
Very pretty. Wonderful colors. This reminds me of the amazing work by Bob Ross. -- I have to agree with | | | |, there are a few clumps of bushes/trees that would probably look better in a summer scene.
Other than that, this is great, I love the clouds. Also the peach/lightblue tones work well together.
Perfect. Just - perfect!
I especially like the sky/clouds and seeing many trees here on PJ these trees in the back are one of the best I've seen.
First time I saw this I couldn't believe my eyes. Fantastic colors.
The snow looks oddly tasty.
Imo I think that the river lacks something of an icy feel to it, not sure what it is though. This piece is still really spectacular, loving the painty feel it gives off!
Warm yet so cold... soft yet so crisp...
beautiful yet.. (so nothing to contrast)
I guess if there would be one thing it would be; a patch of this looks too warm, like it could fit into a much more temperate scene.
I fell in love with the way you've rendered the snow on the pines foliage. Also the different levels of colors saturation give a nice depth to the scenery. Simply beautiful.
Another amazing piece from you . A little rough on some areas though.
I like the use of pink in the clouds as well.
oh wow
