@ADM - I started the first one as 96x96, but decided to decrease the size later to focus more on the pixel tech.
I don't see the monster faces, but they sure look great! My only gripe is that I wish they were a tad bit bigger so you could fit in more of the creases.
I like these a lot. As a fellow class doodler, especially.

Somehow, I knew this was yours from first glance of the preview. Nice colors and style, it's abstract and unique.
2nd one looks more like a little monster in grass to me, the white pixels in the black are the eyes.
1 is a face. She has pink hair.
2 is a green bug, sideview. It has a white head on the left, funny front legs but clearly defined back leg.
3 is a pigs head. 2 black spots are eyes.
I saw this in it before I read the title...
@ptoing and Mandrill - that's interesting, but I don't see it yet. which parts are the mouth/eyes?
I have to say, I misread them as monsters as well at first glance.
I've mistaken these for some cool looking monster sprites.
