So last week I was in a local pawn shop and in the back of the shop I find a mysterious looking card board box. I peer inside and lo and behold it's a complete MSX system with a ton of games to boot!
So after purchasing the beast and bringing my score home I go through the box, the fifth MSX game box I pick up has a ripped image of the Ned Kelly film poster from the 1970's. The one starring Sir Mick Jagger! A few google translations later I find out that this cart is called Ned Kelly's Adventure produced by an obscure gaming company called 8 Bit Dreams.
Well I thought it'd be cool too share the intro from this long forgotten gem.
A few things of note.
The second screen from the title screen reads: Sono Yona, Jinseidesu - "Such Is Life" Believed to be one of Ned's last words before heading to the gallows.
I translated the story to find out more, level one is a prologue of sorts. Ned's on the run from the Grunters so he escapes to the outback to lose them but unfortunately it's a trap. The Grunters are lying in ambush, you have to play through this level to meet your eventual fate at the end of a rope. Creatures of note in this level are the yabby, kangaroo, crocodile, bush fly and grunters of coarse.
After this level you hang until dead and end up in the japanese neither world fighting against various yokai leading to the final battle with Satan who was the one who had set up Ned in the first place.
I think I had too much fun with this one. Enjoy!
