Love the texturing on this one. Orc Gunner...has a certain ring to it wouldn't you say.
@ Mr_Hk
Thank you very much.
I really like your big mock-ups btw. ;)
@ Zizka
Damn, that's awesome! I'm super excited that my art/style becomes more and more recognizable, and I hope to develope this even more.
Thanks!
@ tship
Thanks!
I wanted the area around his eyes to be as bright as possible without sacrificing contrast. I see what you mean though.
You've achieved your own style, major props. When I saw the preview, I thought ''That's Mandrill''.
Awesome, super clean pixeling. The light on the face looks a little too bright to me.
A very nice edit, thanks.
Yep, there is a very hard cut between the light cyan and the highly saturated yellow. I still think it's acceptable though. :) Adding another green to the ramp and smoothing out some parts of his skin right under the nose might do the trick.
If I look at it sideways I can see the intended shape and I think it's an awesome design, the really big mouth/ jaw. Just something about the bright colours ending right where a beard would start on a normally proportioned face tricked me. Anyway I made a quick edit, I don't think this is the solution cause I really like the light being focussed around his eyes but just to illustrate my point.
@ Friend
Thanks a ton!
I have to agree, the bottom part looks rather rough. The leather colours are not the that good for AA in relation to the beige-coloured backround. Still that was the best I could do without pushing the palette above 20. ;)
@ Cels
That's the biggest compliment an artist can wish for. Thank you very much, buddy! I always anticipate your critique, especially when I do a Warhammer piece.
@ 32
Thanks!
It is extremely interesting that you see it this way. Thinking about it, I get your point.
I've grown so accustomed to Warhammer orks and the way Paul Bonner paints them that I really can't (and want) draw them in any other way.
@ Theoden
Thank you, man! Glad to hear that from a Warhammer fan. :)
wowzees, what a good display of your style. id agree, this is serious wall poster quality. only thing im not entirely sold on is the AA at the bottom. maybe it's a tad too conspicuous
This is sublime. By far the artsiest and most interesting ork portrait I've ever seen. I could see this hanging in my living room :)
I absolutely love this but every time I've looked at it I've thought he was a guy with a beard and I guess just skipped over the lips and teeth unconciously labeling them as "part of the costume or whatever." Even knowing it's his mouth I'm finding it really hard to see it that way, the texture just looks really beardy. Might help to bring some of the lighter colours into his upper lip area. Regardless, lovely texturing and beautiful colours.
Haha, you are giving me too much props. Thank you very, very much!
I'm glad that you like my stuff. :)
I aspire to one day create and implement palettes and pixel pixels this stunning
@ Maxaun
Thank you.
I pixelled the rifle with less details to give the eyes a resting point. Still, I needed something to tell a story.
Rendering of materials is ace here man! One of your best pieces so far!
Love the intensity of the greens/reds against the browns.
the rifle looks too smooth though. It feels like the rifle was taken from another, less detailed, piece.
Just discovered this art, and i very like it.
