Hey, so I'll freely admit that I'm not super good at this stuff, but I tried to put something together to help explain.

So, IMO the problem with the legs/hips is that she's arching her back too far forwards and she looks like she might topple backwards. I've shifted her weight forwards so that more of it is on the front leg, with the back leg stabilising. This is also more in line with the SNES pose, which you mentioned you were referencing. I also moved her arms into a more comfortable position with the hand actually resting on the gun barrel isntead of her holding it awkwardly in the air.
I know my example still looks a bit off and is maybe more aggressive than you were going for, but hopefully it'll give you some ideas. Best of luck!
I ve struggle with the hips. The original pose is ... straight and stiff, kinda broom-in-da-basement, cuz it s a mecha suits i guess.

So i've tried to stay close from the SNES pose and add some instep. I feel like the huge shoulders are totaly breaking the balance and natural feel of it.
Would you have any advice on how to fix this ?
You're very right : i've messed up the choice of my values for the midtones.
i'll get better at it with practice i guess =)
Thanks !
And yeah, it would be so cool to see a new 2d metroid.
Cool mockup, although as mentioned the foreground could probably use some clarity. However, Samus' pose is VERY awkward..
Really nice somber atmosphere and an awesome looking mockup. I really like it. My only gripe is that Samus and the UI could maybe pop-out a little more.
This is Supreme.
I wanna see super metroid with graphics like this...
I want to play it! Impressive
