Geez man I was thinking it was effective aesthetically rather than from a technical point of view, but hey, way to not take positive feedback
it really isn't - the grass and rock tiles could easily be adjusted so that it's really just two tiles mapped to different palettes; the sky is not even optimized at all :)
So simple but so effective too - this is a really good use of the NES graphics limitations...
I quite like the shape, I think it's the dark blue color thats a bit offputting. maybe try substituting it for a lighter one?
@Harrisonk - According to ptoing the clouds wouldn't look that way on an actual NES anyway, I just drew them in for the sake of not having a solid-color background. I guess they should be more detailed and less bubbly though.
nice work the clouds dont quite do it for me though
I wonder if Sonic would be lost on that BG at a certain level (he'd probably ideally be the same color as the sky at the top); it would look cool regardless if outlined just right.
It'd make the coins more readable anyway, I thought it was an attempt at making some sort of "glitch" hence the binary.
ehh I don't know. I just wanted to make something quick because I hadn't pixelled anything for a while.
Ohhhh now I see it, and yes i'm fairly sure they did rotate, why not animate them then?
@Paddy - hehe, those are rings. I couldn't find a good way to make the ring shapes in the 8x8 space, and the "1's" are supposed to be the rings turned sideways (I think I remember them turning).
A Sonic NES game??? looks nice, what's with the random binary tho?
well ya did mention "NES graphics limitations" so I chipped in to the conversation a bit. I am glad you like it though, thanks!
