The idea is that you play as Little Hiawatha and have to travel across the forest without killing many animals (in the Disney clip, he feels guilty when pointing his bow at a bunny); hence the limited 'ammo.' You select a space on the grid to walk to, and depending on where you are different creatures may appear and choose to attack you (some are friendly, others are bears). Sort of like a Mystery Dungeon playstyle.

Follows all NES restrictions.

Great pixeling! Perfect balance between simplicity and detail.

Yes, I know. It's a very good example of using the same sprites to emulate details that you normally cannot do. It's abstract and figurative in the same time, and that's what I appreciate. Not to mention this technique is ideal for consols with low memory. (So, basically I know that it's not a big deal and with the modern hardwares it's tehcnically useless, but for artistic reasons, I like it very much :)

@HZoltan - it was my first time making trees this way; I was just trying to use tiles as efficiently as possible (ie the tall grass is the same tile as the shadowed leaves in the trees).

@|||| and PBDC - thanks!

I always wanted to learn the technique that you used on the plants/trees in the background. I like this and I like that it is a beliveable game mock-up.

Love the style. I'd play it.

I like the shubbery and trees!
