The Steelhive are a mechanical conglomerate formed of several alien species which have been assimilated by the Metallizing Virus. Said to be an ancient weapon left by a lost precursor race, the Steelhive nevertheless carries out its directive of optimizing its combat potential by assimilating all species it determines suitable for combat.

The obvious question, though, remains. What sort of enemy could force a civilization to create a weapon as terrible as the Steelhive? And what sort of enemy could destroy such a mighty culture despite the terrible power of the Steelhive?

(These guys are probably the oldest out of all my things! Set in the same setting as the Jade Alchemicals, the Steelhive were actually the first works of pixelart I ever did. I obviously revamped them quite a bit, but I'll always have a bit of nostalgia for their original forms.)
