I almost went the same route myself, and I am glad I avoided it
I really like the strong colors on her and I hope you do incorperate them into the finished piece, I just love colored lighting effects like that :)
And as for the background, I can see where you're going with it. I always see arcades as dark with spots of neon lighting everywhere (which reminds me, I need to spice up the lighting in my background as well.) I think if the background was a bit darker it would work really well.
didn't get very far, I think this is the latest version:

the crappy background and the unfinished colorful reflections on the girl are for testing purposes / unfinished (as is the rest :D)
I like the fact you didn't constrain yourself the way I did with a CRT-frame. gives you more space to present some classic arcades and stuff in the background. maybe I'll pick that up ;)
looks nice :) , i started a similar piece quite a while ago but abandoned it. maybe this will inspire me to revisit it :D
Thanks for the advice :) I'm still getting the hang of developing out my backgrounds more, and i was putting extra limitations on myself that I probably shouldn't have. I may go back and put some more time/effort into the background to make it feel more finished.
This is very nice, but this piece would have been absolutely legendary if you really took the time to make the background as good as the girl. It's a huge piece, but it looks like you did 80% of it in less than one hour. As someone who constantly makes his pixel art too big, I know how that goes.
Girl is fantastic, I also like perspective and colors. Though, agree with CELS, if you will improve background, that would be almost masterpiece.
