I'm wondering about the necessity of 25 colors. If you're just starting out, I would suggest sticking to a set palette of colros so that you can reduce the count and make your style easier to understand.
My first time I used 60 colors, but then I had some really funky gradients going on. I would suggest entering one of the contests to see what you can do with a limited pallette.
Beyond that you have a good eye for lighting and design.
Thanks to both of you!
Scout - Actually, as we speak, I'm working on a (slightly) bigger piece with half as many colors. I had read about using the same highlights and shadows for two separate color ramps. So now I'm trying that out. But as to why I used so many? Idk, I definitely could have taken out a color in the eyes, and outright just used the same colors as the lamp. I keep going for 5 color ramps, but I suppose the hair and eyes could've used less. Either way, kudos for the cc!
