Please forgive my poor soul.
I felt like torturing yours and mine eyes with a heavy overuse of complement-color "effects".
(The C64 palette seemed to fit that purpose well.)

There is some sense in it though: I made a color circle (like it would look on paper) with the colors in the palette, then for shade and lighting i always picked colors that were on the opposite side of the circle(with some variation to left and right) to apply shadows and highlighted surfaces. I kept doing that color picking for a long time and then finally tried to aa the stuff with the same palette...which i now admit the aa failed miserably in various places...it looked well aa'ed at the resolution it was pixelled in though(640x480).
