Bested by a band of heroes, the defeated Lich is returned to the skeletal remains of his former body.  Enshrouding the bones in a phantom form of dark magic, the Lich must slowly but surely regain his former strength, and ensure the defeat (and enslavement of the souls) of the ones who thought they could truely defeat him.
