I think there's a major lack of dynamism in the animation. To swing a pick-axe, one must raise it much farther and incorporate the whole body. This looks like the motion is constrained to just the forearms.
Great animations. I think a bit of a bounce back on the pick axe and character from the impact would make it even better.
Lacks dynamism but electric effect is sweet.
