metaru I think it's a bit harsh to speak like that, they are obviously trying their best at something and everyone always has room to improve. Yes, I agree that the anatomy could be better but I also think it'd be quite simple to go in and improve it in other ways, mainly learning about AA and/or dithering styles, which might be more manageable a learning step if this is where they are up to with their experience level.
Not everyone's going to make masterpieces in the first 5 minutes :P
@Metaru: In the end it's probably best if I remade it. After sitting on it for a few days now I can't really bring myself to go in and fix them. While there are much more ice cream flavors I could do, the inspiration is wearing a bit thin on me. Hmm... I think I'll try doing a different series of sprites but at a smaller scale, with a focus on anatomy/posing. Thanks for the suggestion man; I really appreciate it.
i strongly suggest redoing the whole thing and using some proper references rather than spending time on making them look as cute as posible.
@8 Bit Dreams: Hey thanks!
@Metaru: Hey man! It's been awhile. Thanks for the critique; looking at them now yeah, there are definitely some anatomy problems. Hands/fingers could be cleaned up more, feet look pretty weird, necks/arms/legs are probably too long/big... etc. I'll see about cleaning them up.
there are several anatomy issues with most if not all of them, issues that are rather obvious and are due for a fixing - unless you feel like those two or so hours you spent on each one of them was enough time to not touch them again.
I appreciate your concern clefairykid, but I hold metaru's critique in rather high regard. I used to frequent one of the same forums as he did for a while, so we know each other to a degree. I also prefer it when I'm told that there are areas I could improve in, though hearing that people like what I'm doing is nice, of course.
Also I uh...have been pixelling for quite a few years now, heh. That being said, I am definitely rusty coming back to the stricter standards pj holds pixel art to so it's a good challenge to improve in areas where I've neglected to improve in, like AAing or dithering. I do not consider myself to be a complete beginner in pixel art though. ;)
