Heyyy you guys! I only have one of these guys posted for the sake of the gallery; if you'd like to see my others, I strongly my DeviantART gallery dedicated to these since I have SO many of them. I'd be wasting a lot of time uploading them all here!
What these are are, basically, the Pokemon sprites (mainly from Black and White) upscaled. I paste the enlarged version of the original sprite in one layer on Graphics Gale, lower the opacity, and then make a new layer for the line art. Once I've worked out all of the kinks with the line art, I start shading and such.
I always will use the colors from the original sprite. I do sometimes change one or two colors, however, depending on how well they translate to a larger image...but even when I do, I don't change the colors much. At all. Just enough to look right!
I like to try to stay as true as possible to the original sprite's shading style, but I use the official artwork as a reference for proportions. As you guys all know, you can't translate little details onto a small sprite without having to make some sacrifices...Gamefreak's Pokemon sprites are no exception to this rule.
I don't plan on doing all of the Pokemon...I just do this for fun, when I get into a certain mood! However, I have been going for getting all of the basic stage Unova Pokemon.
It usually takes 30 to 45 minutes on average. Here's a couple of progress videos if anyone is curious! ^^;
