@volrak Rutra:
Technically you don't own it, you have a license that you may use them for a game 1 time. That's quite abig difference.
Yeah a lot of people prefer their own stuff. Guess most of the stuff sold via portals also doesn't have that much of a quality standard. But it wa salso interesting for me to learn how this market actually works.
yay i own your art!
awesome monsters, great job.
i still prefer using my own stuff for games though. less chance of running into same art in another game.
Well I have one project with great pixelart, where I am currently working on and... I guess there are 2 problems with that kind of pixel art
a) it's very time consuming to produce
b) most indies who use pixel art don't have the money to pour a lot in art.
I mind, the business stuff is usually handled via E-Mail =)
@Dex:
won't say that at all
trolls are pretty common beast in european mythology, mostly related to bridges and tolls.
Orcs on the other side are very "Tolkien" and not rooted in any tales or folklore.
that floating eye is the best here *_* but all of them is great
Really amazing. Makes me a bit melancholic because I never see this level of pixel art in games :/
They are all excellent, but the floating eye and the croc-warrior blow me away.
Great stuff!
because i decided to sell them as I had like 20 of em.
I don't planned them to be sold right from the beginning, but wanted to try it.
@Dex:
you mean the troll?
Well there have been many grea tones, at the end I chose those 5 which were spread even amognst the type-sets and which had a good balance in terms of color. It's pretty hard to just choose 5 out of 50.
@rklesmit
thanks a lot =)
With the conceptwork about 3h each one. I did a full design cycle for each of those, where I played around with poses, colors etc.
oh, well, i've been ripped off. still, great art.
also, even at a one-time use licence, with all the people who bought the full bundle there are going to be many very similar looking games if even a fraction of a percent decides to use same art. i understand if it is something simple, like an icon, a cursor or a simple object, but your stuff in particular is the exact opposite of generic. i would simply be humbled to use it in a game.
also also, with all the different styles the games made with the assets will look like a weird salad of art.
just my 50 cent
