If my humble person can add something, it's hind legs that do not move, but shine as lights in the disco.

This has already been discussed a thousand times, and still can't give you a clear answer ;), but pixel art means having control over each and every pixel, pretty much just like you said, by placing them individually. It contains a lot of planing and careful thinking. Many artists even create the palette before they start a piece and don't add colours afterwards.
This "pure" pixel style originates from an era when there was only limited hardware in means of how many colours and layers could be displayed at one given time. Most pixel fans, like myself, enjoy trying to work within these restrictions and would label this the true heart of pixel art.
Cool, can't wait to see your next piece. :)
Thank you very much for the feedback! Yes I did it in photoshop, where I admittedly cheated with filters and such. Actually I would appreciate it if you could tell me because I don't quite know; what is the reason for restricting pixel art to as few colours as possible? Is that just how pixel art is defined as - placing each pixel/colour by hand? If so I will try to be not so lazy next time haha.
The sprite itself looks great and the colours are appealing. Nicely done, even though it lacks a few frames (inbetweens) between the keyframes. Adding those would make it look a lot smoother.
Did you do the animation and sprite in Photoshop? Because I cant quite understand why this has 129 colours.
Maybe you used the smudge tool by accident. Nevertheless, a very good first animation.
Yes! that definitely makes sense. Thank you for your input.
Also now that I know the proper definition of pixel art I will re-work on this LOL. It will give me a good chance to not be so lazy and apply what I've learnt. Again, thanks for the feedback.
