Edit: I've edited the dithering on his face. I was wondering whether to make the penumbra on his face smaller, since the torch's light source is pretty small. I've also re-done a bit of his torso area and arm + his orther eye lid thing.
Description: Just a creature, scared by a dropped torch (or, flash-light to you Americans, lol) on a rainy night. I previously had worked on a lense flare for the torch, with nice hexagons extending towards the top-right. I got rid of that though, because the actual rays, at the torch, spoiled the feel of the piece.

I'm out of words. The lightning concept is great, just as the reflection on the ground. But I do have to agree that the dithering on his have seems out of style.
I like this composition. I see what you mean about the arm, I would try a bigger more dramatic shadow on this chest rather than the small one you've got now. I do not think the dithering angle works with the entire compostion being circles, it stops the flow, perhaps a pattern will add the right look/feel. This same pattern would be great on the bkg fade too, as if you're looking in from outside through a wet window pane. The colors are perfect, don't mess with them.....I stop now
Wow, love the lighting effects and reflections. But the shade on his head and left eye are weird. I think you should also shade the left arm a little bit.
