As the only technique a newbie to pixelart would know I'd say we should introduce new techniques ;)

(Just have a look around in here bro I'm sure you'll find a shading technique you'll love ;)

Not bad, but... It looks pillow-shaded to me... And pillow-shadowing is a no-no in pixel art (unless it's somehow well executed).
