When you add shadows to your art, think of a light source and imagine the shadows that would appear where that light source doesn't reach, and draw those. Adding "shadows" around the lineart without thinking about the light source creates "pillow shading", which doesn't make sense and doesn't look good, because it makes the whole thing look flat (rather than 3D, which part of the reason to have shading in the first place). No shading is better than pillow shading. Use shading to show the forms of whatever you're drawing. If shading is an afterthought, then just don't add it.
Thanks for the comment but a fledgling artist I still have much to learn but I am in the way this dog did not want to give many stumature but I'm considering to improve it as soon as I can.
